INDIANAPOLIS 2/15/10 - Among a roomful of supporters within the University Place Conference Center and Hotel, Senator Evan Bayh announced that he would not run for a third term. It was not surprising that Senator Bayh tapped into the technologically advanced Conference Center - located on the campus of a University, which proclaims - "IUPUI, Where impact is made"
Bayh, who served as governor of Indiana from 1988 to 1996 made an impact as he addressed the crowd of educators, public officials and media, "I love working for the people of Indiana, I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress. I will not, therefore, be a candidate for election to the senate this November."
In closing, Senator Bayh reaffirmed his "deep and abiding love for our nation" and reiterated that he will continue to do his part to meet the challenges the US faces, to work for solutions not slogans and to serve as a private citizen in building a "stronger, more prosperous, more decent, and more just" America.
